One-Off Porsche 911 Celebrates 1,000,000 Production Milestone

The iconic Porsche 911 has hit the one million milestone with the company commemorating the occasion with a special one-off example.

Unveiled at the 911’s Zuffenhausen production facility, 911 number 1,000,000 will tour the world to celebrate the 911 story, which began in 1963.

Set to travel around Europe, tour the United States and visit Asia, the milestone 911 will then return to Germany where it will be displayed at Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

As a tribute to the first generation 911, car number one million is finished in non-metallic Irish Green, with mahogany inserts for the dashboard and steering wheel, and houndstooth fabric on the seats.

20-inch alloy wheels in a classic 5-spoke design, alimium mirror caps, a chrome-trimmed glasshouse and gold-painted badges complete the retro visage.

While the visuals might hark bark to a bygone era, the mechanical package is thoroughly modern, with the one-millionth 911 based on the 2017 Carrara S, packing a 309kW/500Nm twin-turbo 3.0-litre flat six engine and seven-speed manual transmission.

While the one-off commemorative car won’t be offered for sale, Porsche will build you something similar via its range of optional finishes as part of the Porsche Exclusive customisation program.

A spokesman for the brand says Porsche has not yet decided whether to bring the milestone example to Australia.
